Job Description:
We're working with a specialist engineering business in Devon that's looking to recruit a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager to join its growing team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a civil engineering background who has gained some practical experience and is looking to take the next step into project management.
The company delivers a range of interesting engineering projects across the water and environmental sectors, combining civil engineering, structural elements and specialist installations.
Working within a small, experienced team, you'll be involved in projects from the early planning and design stages through to construction and installation on site. Most projects are valued between £150k and £200k, giving you the opportunity to take real ownership of your work and see projects through from start to finish.
The Role You'll work closely with the engineering and delivery teams, helping to coordinate projects and ensuring work is completed safely, on time and within budget.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of engineering projects.
- Liaising with designers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Reviewing technical drawings and understanding construction requirements.
- Coordinating materials, resources and site activities.
- Monitoring project programmes, costs and progress.
- Attending site meetings and helping resolve technical or practical challenges.
About You We're keen to speak with Civil Engineers, Site Engineers, Project Engineers or Assistant Project Managers who have gained some experience within construction or engineering and are looking to develop their careers.
Ideally, you'll have a degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, along with a good understanding of construction methods, structural elements and materials such as steel and reinforced concrete.
You don't need to have extensive project management experience, but you should be comfortable working with technical drawings, communicating with different teams and taking responsibility for getting things done.
Experience within water, infrastructure, specialist construction or design-and-build projects would be useful, although it's not essential.
What's on Offer? This is an opportunity to join a well-established specialist business where you'll be more than just another member of a large project team.
You'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, work closely with experienced engineers and have the opportunity to develop into a Project Manager role as your experience grows.
The company offers a friendly, collaborative working environment, varied projects and genuine opportunities for career progression.
Interested? If you're a Civil Engineer, Site Engineer or Assistant Project Manager looking for a new challenge in Devon, we'd be keen to hear from you.
