Exmouth is a seaside town of around 36,000 at the mouth of the Exe estuary, the largest town in East Devon and the oldest resort in the county. Its jobs market is built on tourism and the seafront, an older-than-average population that needs a lot of care and health work, and a steady flow of residents who commute up the line to Exeter. Live vacancies lean towards hospitality, care, retail and seasonal seafront roles.

Most of the town's retail and trade jobs sit at Liverton Business Park off Salterton Road (EX8 2NR), where Screwfix, Howdens, Bradfords, Pets at Home, Home Bargains and The Range all trade. The estate is owned by Clinton Devon Estates, which leases commercial space to around 100 small and medium businesses across rural East Devon. Exmouth Hospital on Claremont Grove is part of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the biggest employer in the county. It runs a Minor Injuries Unit, day surgery and the Doris Heard ward, so nursing and healthcare support work comes up regularly. The seafront, marina and watersports centre support a seasonal cluster of sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding businesses, along with cafes, pubs and holiday lets, and a lot of summer work is advertised through agencies rather than directly.

Transport: Exmouth station sits at the end of the Avocet Line, with trains to Exeter Central in around 25 minutes, roughly every half hour, hugging the estuary the whole way. There is no motorway in the town. The nearest is M5 junction 30 at Exeter, eight to ten miles up the A376. Postcodes: EX8 covers the whole town; EX9 next door is Budleigh Salterton.
