Job Description:

Long-Term Contract | Major Civils Project | Immediate Start | Potential 12–18 Months

O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting experienced Civils Site Managers / Black Hat Supervisors to join a major ongoing civil engineering project.

We have opportunities for 2–3 experienced managers, with the potential for 12–18 months of continuous work for individuals who perform well on site.

This opportunity would suit managers with a strong background in heavy civils, groundworks and infrastructure, rather than predominantly residential construction.

Working as part of the site management team, you will be responsible for overseeing groundworks and civil engineering activities, coordinating operatives and plant, maintaining programme and quality standards, and ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.

The current and upcoming scope of works includes:

• Bulk excavations and earthworks
• Piling and pile trimming
• RC slabs and concrete works
• Making up and managing levels
• Drainage and below-ground works
• RC steps and associated concrete works
• Finishing works
• Coordination of groundworkers and plant operators
• Managing subcontractors and site activities
• Monitoring quality, productivity and programme
• Ensuring health & safety standards are maintained throughout

With the slab works approaching completion, the project will progressively move into a significant drainage and finishing phase.

We are looking for experienced construction professionals who can demonstrate a strong background within civil engineering and groundworks.

Successful candidates should have:

• Proven experience as a Civils Site Manager, Site Supervisor, Black Hat or similar
• Strong heavy civils/groundworks experience
• Good knowledge of drainage and below-ground works
• Experience with bulk excavations, earthworks, piling and concrete works
• Ability to effectively manage groundworkers, plant operators and subcontractors
• Strong understanding of site health & safety
• Good organisational and communication skills
• A proactive approach to managing works and resolving issues on site
• Relevant and valid site management qualifications/cards
• Ability to meet the project's mandatory site drug-testing requirements

This is not simply a short-term cover position.

The project has a substantial programme remaining, and for strong, reliable managers there is the potential for 12–18 months of work.

The client is particularly interested in people who take ownership of their section of works, understand the practicalities of delivering complex civils packages and are comfortable working closely with both management and the workforce on the ground.
