Green Space and Cleansing Operative | Environmental Operative | Street Cleaning Operative

Exeter | £13.45 per hour | Temporary | Immediate Start | Full-time / Part-time Hours Available

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of Exeter City Council for 6 Green Space and Cleansing Operatives to support local environmental services across Exeter.

Please note: Applicants are required to have a full, clean manual UK driving licence.

Working Hours

• Shift start times between 5am and 7am.

• Finish times vary between 1pm and 6pm.

• Working 3-5 days out of 7, depending on the role.

• Weekend availability for at least one day is preferred.

• 7.5-hour shifts include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

• 10.5-hour shifts include 1.5 hours of unpaid breaks.

Key Duties

As a Green Space and Cleansing Operative, you'll play an important role in keeping Exeter clean, safe and looking its best.

Your duties will include:

• Removing litter and emptying litter bins.

• Cleaning public spaces, including car parks and public toilets.

• Removing small amounts of graffiti and fly-posting.

• Trimming or removing weeds in parks and on roadsides.

• Carrying out basic inspections and reporting maintenance issues.

• Reporting fly tipping, damaged street furniture, abandoned vehicles and other environmental concerns.

• Completing basic paperwork, including inspection records.

• Following safe working practices and Exeter City Council procedures at all times.

Training Provided

Successful applicants will receive full training across a variety of cleansing services, including:

• City Centre solo sweeping.

• Van routes.

• Deep cleaning.

• Car park cleaning.

• Public toilet cleaning.

• Reliable and punctual.

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Flexible with working patterns.

• Committed to delivering high standards of cleanliness and customer service.

• Hold a full, clean manual UK driving licence.
