Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Torquay - Office Based

£45,000 - £50,000 + Holiday + Pension + Autonomy + Growth Potential

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take ownership of your own projects and work across more than just mechanical design?

Do you want to help develop an innovative medical device in a growing business where your ideas and problem-solving skills will make a visible difference?

This Devon-based company has developed a medical device and is preparing for the next stage of its growth. As the product develops, they are looking for an engineer who enjoys hands-on work, varied technical challenges and the chance to see projects through from concept to implementation.

In this role, you will design and develop mechanical systems using 3D CAD, work hands-on with prototypes and solve problems as the product evolves. You will also collaborate on wider electromechanical and system projects, working with specialists rather than needing to design electronics or write software yourself. As part of a regulated business, you will clearly document your work and communicate your decisions to the wider team.

THE ROLE:

• Design and develop mechanical systems and prototypes using 3D CAD
• Work hands-on with the product to test ideas and solve technical problems
• Own projects and collaborate on wider electromechanical and system development
• Document design work clearly within a regulated environment

THE PERSON:

• Mechanical engineering background with experience in a design environment
• Confident using SolidWorks or another 3D CAD package
• An understanding of how mechanical designs interact with electronics and wider systems
• Able to work independently, communicate clearly and take ownership of projects
• Knowledge of pressure systems, pipework, valves or pumps would be advantageous
