Support Worker: Veterans, complex needs LOCATION: Honiton and Exeter
HOURS: 30 hours per week – Monday to Friday (Required to work 1 Saturday out of 6)
SALARY: £15.34 + Holiday pay

Support Worker to join our team, supporting veterans and individuals who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.

About the Role As a Support Worker, you will manage a caseload of approximately
5–8 customers, allowing you the time and capacity to provide high-quality, tailored support. You will work as part of a wider team supporting individuals with moderate to high support needs across the
Honiton and Exeter areas.
You will take a holistic approach to support, working with customers to identify their goals and aspirations while helping them build the skills needed to live independently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing person-centred support to veterans and people experiencing homelessness.
- Managing a caseload and developing positive working relationships with customers.
- Creating, reviewing, and updating support plans and risk assessments.
- Supporting customers with issues including housing, mental health, substance misuse, benefits, employment, education, and training.
- Working collaboratively with external agencies, landlords, and partner organisations.
- Supporting individuals to access services and opportunities within their community.
- Promoting independence, choice, and self-determination.
- Using initiative and problem-solving skills to manage challenging situations positively.
Preferred Requirements: - Demonstrate a deep understanding and empathy for the unique challenges faced by ex-veterans
- Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathize, and provide tailored support
- Exhibit a proactive and problem-solving mindset, ready to navigate complex situations with care and diligence
- Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and community organizations
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance
About you: - Experience supporting vulnerable individuals from a range of backgrounds.
- Experience working within housing support, homelessness, social care, or a similar environment (desirable).
- The ability to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and external partners.
- Experience completing records, support plans, action plans, and risk assessments.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and the challenges faced by vulnerable people.
- The ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- A flexible and proactive approach, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to promote independence and empower individuals to achieve their goals.
