Job Description:
Support Worker – Children & Young People (Autism)
Locations: Kingsteignton (Newton Abbot), Exeter & Teignmouth
Hours: Part-Time | Fixed Weekly Shifts Approx - 18 hrs per week.
Training Provided
We're looking for compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our team supporting children and young people with autism and additional needs in the community. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by promoting independence, encouraging community engagement, and providing valuable respite for families.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support community outings and meaningful activities.
- Build positive relationships through person-centred support.
- Help provide respite for the family.
- Follow behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Encourage participation in activities.
- This is an enabling support role with no personal care required.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Able to attend mandatory training in Exeter this week (early next week may be considered where necessary).
- Willing to use your own vehicle to support community activities where required.
Experience:
- Experience supporting children or young people is preferred.
- We also welcome applicants with experience supporting adults with learning disabilities who have transferable skills.
- Experience supporting individuals with:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Challenging behaviour
- Learning disabilities
Training Provided
Full training will be provided, including:
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Physical Intervention/Restraint Training
- Comprehensive induction
- Ongoing support and development
Previous PBS or restraint training is not required.
